Much as I would like to spend my days in the kitchen trying out new recipes, during the day I spend my time in lab. I am a
graduate student post doctoral fellow in a genetics lab and don’t get me wrong, I enjoy it tremendously. The third limb of my life is dance. I have been dancing Bharathanatyam since I was 6 years old and cannot imagine life without it. Henri Matisse, a noted French painter once said “Creativity takes courage”. The value of that statement in cooking cannot be underestimated. So the next time you wonder if you could add raw mangoes to your grandma’s traditional stew, try it. You may surprise yourself.
