Nourishing your skin with natural oils and butters is an essential part of everyday skin care. I recently got introduced to homemade body butter, thanks to my cousin who gifted a jar of homemade Lavender and sage body soufflé. Since then I’ve been wanting to make it myself, because its easy to make, organic and leaves your skin silky soft and nourished. I had to use every bit of strength to try hard not to eat it. You basically need 1. Oil (coconut, almond, grape seed) 2. Butter (shea or cocoa butter) 3. Essential oil (lavender, sage, lemon, eucalyptus, Peppermint and the list goes on). You can use any combination of the three and come up with so many different kinds of body butter.
To make the lavender body cream you’ll need:
Almond oil: 4 ounce
Coconut oil (solid form): 4 ounce
Shea butter: 8 ounce
Lavender essential oil: 10-15 drops
Sage essential oil: 10 drops (optional)
- Mix almond oil, coconut oil and shea butter in a bowl and melt the mixer in a double boiler.
- Once the mixture is melted completely, let if cool and pop it into the refrigerator for about 20 minutes till it sets.
- Now using a electric mixer whisk this mixture for about 5-7 minutes until it turn creamy and fluffy.
- Transfer it to a glass jar and store in a cool place.
